We slept in until 7 am today. I sat on the edge of the bed trying to motivate myself to go outside and start mowing. I finally began at 7:30 am in the front. When the front lawn was done, it was time for breakfast. Let's see--egg, bacon and sourdough pancakes. I asked for more bacon but was rebuffed. I try this weekly. Maybe someday the answer will be yes.
I finished mowing the back yard and rushed inside to take a shower. LaRee was on her way for a visit as part of her Relief Society duties. I wanted to stay in the shower longer but couldn't due to a scheduled convert baptism at 10 am. I left home at 10 am for the church. One of my faults is that I when I start a project, I like to finish it or do one more thing before quitting. I pulled a bunch of weeds which caused me to hit the shower late. So, I was 10 minutes late for the baptism, or was I? Don't forget, the church operates on Mormon Standard Time. I walked into the room during the opening song. I listened to the talks and pondered in my mind what I would have said if I had been asked to speak. Isn't the gospel great? There are so many ways to present a principle or doctrine to get a point across. LaRee joined me at the baptism but just missed the ordinance itself. We listened to the first discussion from the missionaries while the convert was dressing. We ended and I went to the clerk's office to make home teaching changes. LaRee went home.
On the way back to our homestead, I stopped in and purchased two sandwiches at Subway. LaRee was so excited that I bought her some chips--Sun Chips (Monterey Jack and Sundried Tomato). She gets excited if the chip has more than two words. For instance, Potato Chips are not tasty. Sour Onion Potato Chips are delicious.
We left and drove to Sun City to attend a memorial service for David Jenkins. He lived in our ward for many years. He was 79 years old. He died on Sept. 7th which is the same day of their first date many years ago. The services were wonderful. We ran into so many friends after the service. It seemed like we were back in the Glendale Sixth Ward again. So, how did the evening end? We had a candlelight dinner. I suggested it yesterday but stayed too late at work. So, we moved our dinner forward one day.
Our meal consisted of Grilled Salmon with Peaches.
The Salmon was on top of a bed of Couscous with the peaches on top. LaRee had snowpeas and onions.
We also enjoyed eating an artichoke. For dessert, we had fresh peach pie with vanilla ice cream.
Our dinner was amazing. Are you jealous?
