Memories from my Childhood

I have found that when I pray and read my scriptures every day, that I have a better life.  I receive more promptings from the Holy Ghost and have better ideas in my head.  I don’t always do what I am supposed to do but I am better at obedience.  Life is kind of challenging at times.  Sometimes we want to do what is right but don’t quite have the courage or strength to choose the right.  But, if we read our scriptures every day, the strength comes to us and helps our faith.  One day when I was a young boy, I was upstairs in our house. I decided to go down into the basement to my bedroom. As I came down the stairs and around the corner to go into my room, I saw my mother on her knees praying at the bed.  She had left all of the noise and activity upstairs and went to a quiet place to pray.  I still remember her kneeling at the bed with her head bowed. I felt as if I was intruding into a sacred place.  I quietly backed up and climbed the stairs to the main part of the house.  I am grateful that I found her praying. It helped my testimony and increased my faith. I would see her twice a day kneel with us during family prayer.  But, I don’t remember seeing her say her personal prayers although I knew she did.  When things are tough, kneel in a quiet place and ask for help. Then read some from the Holy Scriptures.
