Equally Yoked?

On the 21st of August, we celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary.  We went to the Mesa Temple and had an opportunity to do sealings while there. What a lovely evening.  When we came out of the temple, we saw storm clouds.  We decided not to eat in Mesa but hurry back to Phoenix. As we were finishing our dinner, the rain started hitting the outside windows of our restaurant. We drove home in the rain and then watched and heard a nice rainstorm.

I have been thinking. We are taught that we need to be "equally yoked" in marriage. Elder David A. Bednar spoke about this in the April 2012 Priesthood Session.  He said, "Many wives are pleading for husbands who have not only priesthood authority but also priesthood power. They yearn to be equally yoked with a faithful husband and priesthood companion in the work of creating a Christ-centered and gospel-focused home."  We discussed this and agree that we have been pretty equally yoked in our marriage. However, LaRee's yolk is prettier, better designed and polished and more attractive.

So, on the morning after our wedding anniversary, I was out walking early in the morning before the sun came up. I left her in bed still sleeping. I called her on my cell phone about 6 am and woke her up. I told her it was "time to start on the 39th year. Get out of bed!"
